Cycling the Silk Route by Tess Monteith
Tuesday, December 10 @ 10:00 - 12:00
In February 2015, Perthshire painter Tess Monteith and her daughter, Francesca, set out to cycle the ancient Silk Route from Shanghai to Venice in aid of Scotland’s Air Ambulance charity. A gruelling journey of 5000 miles through the deserts of China, the fabled cities of Central Asia to the Caspian Sea. They then crossed the Caucuses, the Black Sea coast of Turkey, through the Balkans arriving in Venice four and a half months after setting out.
Tess will be talking about her experiences of the history, the culture, the politics and the geography which made this such a gruelling journey.
